Bad breath is one of the signs you shouldn’t ignore.
Ignoring regular dentist check ups can make small issues turn into costly and painful problems..
Early action (Catching hidden problems early) means less discomfort, easier treatment.
Ignoring small signs like bad breath or bleeding gums eventually does turn your tooth like the image below.
Has Gum Disease already started?
So how would I know if I have Gum Disease?
Red, swollen, bleeding gums when brushing or flossing,
persistent bad breath,
loose teeth, receding gums,
and gaps appearing between teeth?
Or a change in the way your teeth fit together?
What if the biggest threat to your smile is invisible and painless?
Or have they already started and you just don’t know about it.
Gum disease is reversible in the early stages.
However, as gum disease progresses and bones begins to be lost,
then it can be stabilised but it can’t be reversed.
Regular cleaning costs $170.
Treating gum disease can cost $220.
If problems are severe, deep cleaning might be required,
which costs $880.
Because the scary thing about gum disease is,
they start painlessly and almost unnoticeably.
” How Does Gum Disease Start? “
Gum disease starts when “plaque“,
a bacteria, forms on teeth from food particles and sugars.
If not removed by daily brushing and flossing, plaque hardens into tartar.
Plauqe contains many different bacteria that can potentially infect your gums.
Early stages of gum disease are reversible.
Gum disease can damage structural support around your teeth.
And eventually, tooth loss.

“But does daily brushing & flossing mean that I won’t get gum disease?”
Even with daily brushing, flossing and proper oral hygiene the risk of gum disease remains.
But even with brushing only cleans approximately 60% of tooth surfaces,
leaving the remaining 40% uncleaned,
primarily the areas between teeth and under the gumline.
It’s like vacuuming the house without moving the furniture.
Flossing removes plaque between teeth where brushes can’t reach.
“Then How Do I Stop Gum Disease, For Good?”
Flossing and using TEPE brushes (Interdental brushes) does help and lower the chances of gum disease.
You can control and prevent gum disease through good oral hygiene at home or through regular dental checkups.
How else would you know that you have plaque/tartar on your teeth
unless you get a dental checkup?
You probably realise that bad breath and yellow teeth
affect more than just your appearance.
They can lead to insecurity, low confidence,
and even impact how well you perform
in your personal and professional life.
Whether you are going to a wedding, graduation,
or an award ceremony,
making sure you have a bright smile and a fresh breath.
And that’s attractive to others.
You want to look and feel your best for photos
and special moments you want to always remember even when you’re older.
Healthy teeth also keep your whole body healthier.
“It’s ok, I’ll just get a checkup later.”
Every day you wait is another day of damage.
Gum disease is reversible in the early stages.
However, as gum disease progresses and bones begins to be lost,
then it can be stabilised but it can’t be reversed.
Gum disease is losing structural support around your teeth which can cause tooth loss.
The earlier you detect hidden problems, the better.
Oral health is also linked to overall health,
as bacteria from gum disease can enter the bloodstream and harm overall health
Gum disease is associated with risks of heart disease,
stroke, alzheimer’s, and other systemic long term health issues (cancer).
