Dr. Andrew is a USA trained dentist with over 20 years of experience, licensed to practice in the United States, South Korea, and New Zealand.

Education

Dr. Hong holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh (USA), completed a Surgical Residency at the Misch Implant Institute (USA), and obtained a Master of Clinical Dentistry from Ajou University (South Korea).

Throughout his career, Dr. Hong has amassed noteworthy achievements, including establishing a thriving private practice in Columbus, Ohio (USA) for over 7 years. Additionally, he served as the department chief at a prominent government-operated hospital in Korea, where he gained invaluable experience by successfully treating hundreds of challenging cases each year, further enhancing his expertise in the field of dentistry.

New Chapter & Beyond

In 2017, Dr. Andrew relocated to New Zealand with his family, embarking on a new chapter by establishing Star Dental in Auckland. This private practice is dedicated to family dentistry and specializes in dental implants, reflecting his unwavering commitment to providing comprehensive oral care.

Dr. Ha Eun Cho

Education

Dr. Ha Eun holds a Honours of Dental Surgery degree from the King’s College London in the UK (QS World University Ranking No.5 in the UK, 31st Globally, 2026) class of 2020, obtained a certificate of commendation in the Parris prize 2019/20, addressed challenged cases in maxillo-facial department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, Awarded the GKT Dental Alumni Elective Fund, managed complex cases at a busy mixed general dental practice in Ely, near Cambridge (UK) also completing a Level 1 paediatric dentistry course and various courses on topics such as occlusion and restorative dentistry.

She was born in Korea, moved to the UK when she was 3, qualified in London, worked in England until recently and came to New Zealand because she loves New Zealand and plans to settle here! She is passionate for dentistry and enjoy all aspects of dentistry including restorative dentistry, gum disease treatment, root canals, dentures and  pediatric dentistry. Also she is kind and caring towards making feel patients at ease.

Jin

Clinical Dental Technician

Jin has now over 13 years of experience purely doing dentures

Having graduated in Otago back in 2012 with Honors, Jin has now over 13 years of experience purely doing dentures. When it comes to needing partial or full dentures, or simply a general check-up and maintenance, you are in capable hands. Complete set of dentures top and bottom is where Jin gets excited and is most passionate about – because this is where its most challenging; too few technicians can fabricate an intricate piece of artwork that is not only aesthetically pleasing but functions exceptionally well in the mouth. A well-working full top and bottom denture is a happy (gummy) mouth. 

He believes in the occlusal scheme called Bi-lateral balanced occlusion and incorporates this into almost every case, even partial dentures. This reduces irregularities that cause the denture to rock and rub against the gums.

Jin runs his own laboratory receiving work from other dentist clients that require his expertise. He does his own lab work; therefore, he personally guarantees his workmanship.

Hygienist

Emma is a graduate of the University of Otago in 2019, with a Bachelor of Oral Health. As an oral health therapist, she provides dental hygiene services. She is passionate about improving oral health and wellbeing through a holistic approach.
